Why is getting out of debt so hard for the standard American consumer?

Nowadays it looks like pretty much everyone is struggling due to the turbulence in our economy.  Weeks and months continue to pass by and the financial system dosen’t look as if it will be getting any better.  In fact more people continue to lose their employment; the national deficit is going up, and foreclosures are also still going up.  One issue that is also destroying US consumers is that credit card debt is also on the rise. With all the other economic problems it’s no wonder people have such difficult times trying to get out of debt

Credit card companies intent to make it as difficult as they can for debtors to get out of their debt treadmill.  The trap they set up is by using monthly minimum payments and high interest.  Consumers become so used to only having to put out the minimum and this behavior breeds ever increasing debt balances.  Once consumers are stuck with a balance then the credit card banks will slam them with interest rates well over twenty percent.

Consider that even with an standard interest rate it takes over 40 years to get out of debt with the minimum payment scheme and over four times the original balance will be paid in interest alone.  Now you toss in the fact that the interest rate has now been jacked up these figures drastically increase.  And the debtor may very well die before they wind up paying off their credit cards.

Unite this minimum payment plan with the issues our economy is experiencing and you have a a bad mix for financial disaster for tens of millions of Americans.  There is one resolution that has been helping consumers and that solution is debt settlement, a program for saving income and time.

Debt settlement gives the consumer a chance to get out of credit card debt within a couple of years, instead of forty plus years.  Additionally with credit card debt settlement debtors will be saving a large amount of income on what they currently owe towards the credit card companies.  This is very nice for those consumers who are trapped real deep in credit card debt right now and have been struck pretty hard by the crippled economy.  Credit card debt settlement can give these people hope that one day their money predicament will get back on track and they can enjoy a much more joyous life.

It should honestly be everyone’s top priority as of the moment to escape this ocean of credit card debt.  No one should be left in such dire circumstances and lose everything they have struggled for their whole lives to the sketchy creditors.
